As an artist growing up in China, my early artistic path was filled with discordant notes as I was forced to learn piano by my family. I quickly realized that this was not the path I wanted to follow. Because of a TV series, my destiny became intertwined with jewelry design. In order to realize my dream, I entered an art high school in China where I could pursue my dream of painting and designing. However, the large amount of formatted, one-size-fits-all basic assignments made me anxious. I strongly believe that fostering creativity and discovering personal inspiration is just as important as mastering technical skills. So in 2019, I took the brave step of moving to Philadelphia to attend Taylor and MJCC. this past year, I've had the privilege of exploring more emotionally and creatively charged work, moving away from a rigid mindset that emphasizes technical prowess and functionality. My current focus is on creating artwork that has meaning and storytelling, especially raising the resonance of shared memories. My ultimate goal is to inspire other young Chinese artists to break free from the constraints of traditional design and embrace the boundless world of conceptual art.
